Why your business needs to have a strong social media presence
November 21, 2016
An initial answer may say that you’re on social media because everyone else is. Social media is a buzzword for businesses. Everyone knows they need to “be on” it, but not everyone knows what that means.
Social media is important because it is where conversations happen. With traditional media, you talk at potential customers and tell them why they should choose your brand. Until recently, that was sufficient because there was no really good way to get second opinions. You may ask your neighbor, or tell two or three people about a great experience with a company, but that’s where the social engagement in business stopped.
Social media marketing is the natural progression of marketing. Be where your customers are. Gone are the times where people just accept the message presented by a man on the TV or radio station. We, as consumers, now have options. Social media gives you an amazing opportunity to engage with potential customers at every stage of the buying process.
The goal really is to become the thought leader online by providing relevant, thought provoking and useful content that appeals to your target market.
So, in short, you aren’t on social media because business leaders tell you to be. You’re on social media because that is where your customers are and where your customers are searching for information.
